Essentials for weaving compelling stories into presentations

Throughout the class, participants will apply the principles of The Orderly Conversation to their presentations and the stories they tell during them.

They will learn to

  • Craft and tell stories with intention
  • Weave stories into the conversation taking place during their presentations
  • Engage listeners in a fruitful conversation
  • Frame presentations to set context and provide a reason for others to participate
  • Manage nervousness and gain self-awareness
  • Be clear, concise, direct, and compelling
  • Be appropriately persuasive
  • Create effective visual aids to support key messages
  • Use visuals effectively whether seated or standing, projected, hand-held, or hard copy
  • Think on their feet
  • Facilitate fruitful interactions with others
  • Nurture relationships with others through effective and efficient communication

Virtual Presentation Skills Training: The skills required to present virtually are an extension of the skills required in face-to-face situations. If your presenters present virtually, consider adding a virtual post-workshop session to help them be more successful in the online environment.

Dress Rehearsal Coaching: To help workshop participants succeed, especially when the stakes are high, consider adding post-workshop coaching. This hour-long one-on-one follow-up takes place virtually and may be conducted any time after the workshop. Individuals always work with one of the instructors from their workshop to ensure continuity and mutual trust.

Participants complete an online needs assessment and prepare the presentation they’ll work on in class.
