Presenting & Training in a Virtual Environment
Transferring your face-to-face skills to the online world
This series of 2-hour virtual training sessions is designed to help each presenter or trainer transfer their existing skills to the webinar environment. Participants work with their own real-life content and slides. Like all Turpin sessions, this one is interactive and provides experiential learning opportunities for all participants. While this workshop is highly tailored for each client, the work typically breaks down as follows:
Session 1: Best practices for preparing and delivering information via webinar.
Participants learn:
- Key differences between live and virtual delivery (and how to adjust)
- How to adapt slides and other learning materials to the online environment
- When and how to use polling, chat, hand raising and other interactive tools included in the webinar package
Session 2: Reorganizing and redesigning slides for virtual delivery.
Using their own slides and working together, participants refine their slides. Real case-by-case issues and challenges are discussed. Recommendations are integrated into individual slide decks.
Session 3: Delivering content virtually.
The group is broken down into two groups of 5 participants, each lead by a coach. Participants deliver a section of their webinar, receiving feedback from peers and coach. Work focuses on:
- Introducing content
- Taking control of the webinar environment
- Engaging listeners and setting a positive tone
- Delivering slides clearly and concisely
Session 4: Best practices for encouraging and controlling interaction during webinars.
This will include verbal interaction as well as best practices when using webinar technology. Participants will learn how to:
- Bring out reluctant or disengaged participants
- Facilitate discussions effectively
- Use video conferencing
- Use webinar tools and technology judiciously
