Course Overview
During this highly interactive workshop, we'll help you Be Yourself... Only Better. You'll learn to capitalize on your strengths and develop the skills you need to overcome your weaknesses.
You'll also learn to:
- Engage your audience and appear more comfortable
- Feel less nervous
- Organize your presentations more clearly and efficiently
- Improve the design and delivery of your PowerPoint slides
- Manage questions and interruptions during your presentations
Throughout the course, you'll work on a real-life presentation of your choosing. All exercises are videoed, but your videos won't be replayed in front of the group. Instead, after the exercise, you'll watch your video with a coach. This private coaching will provide additional-and very valuable-feedback to help you integrate what you've learned in class into the situations you face outside of it.
Pre-work
In preparation for the workshop, you'll complete a short eLearning course called "Preparing Your Presentation." The goal is to help you (1) understand and implement the organizational principles of successful presentations, (2) focus your thinking about your presentation, and (3) create a draft of the presentation you'll work on in class.
You'll receive instructions three weeks prior to the workshop.
Day 1
8:30 am - 5:00 pm
The first day of the workshop focuses on three major areas:
- Engaging listeners, managing nervousness and improving delivery skills to appear comfortable, confident and polished.
- Honing your message to meet the needs of your listeners, organizing information persuasively, and creating appropriate slides.
- Delivering effective introductions to provide listeners with a sense of direction, purpose and a reason to listen.
Day 2
8:30 am - 5:00 pm
The second day builds on the skills learned during day one and continues with:
- Delivering the presentation, focusing on being easy to follow, responsive to listeners, delivering key messages and using visual aids appropriately.
- Managing interactions including Q&A sessions, interruptions, and difficult people and issues.
Post Workshop
12-month Access to eCoach
To encourage long-term learning and the implementation of skills learned in the live course, you will have access to eCoach, our online learners' portal. eCoach includes:
- Personalized follow-up letter written by one of your instructors, highlighting skills and techniques for you to focus on.
- Your in-class videos, including notes from your instructors reminding you of what works for you and what doesn't.
- In-class tools & takeaways.
