No-nonsense techniques for engaging
today's learners
This interactive, advanced-level workshop builds and
polishes the skills necessary to facilitate training
sessions. Whether participants are experienced trainers or
subject matter experts thrust into the training role, this
workshop will take their skills to the next level. Work
focuses on presenting content, facilitating group
discussion, setting up and debriefing exercises and
providing productive learner feedback.
In-class exercises are video recorded and followed by
private, instructor-led video review. This approach helps
each participant understand and work with their unique approach
to training. This workshop will help participants:
- Engage participants in the process and encourage participation
- Set clear expectations and learning objectives
- Be concise
- Listen effectively and reserve judgment
- Encourage and control discussions
- Connect dots and identify common themes
- Work with co-trainers
- Deliver visual aids effectively (even content prepared by others)
- Communicate relevance and job application
- Manage difficult people and situations
- Make the shift from Subject Matter Expert to skilled trainer
- Provide productive learner feedback using the Turpin Communication PROS model (practical, relevant, observable, simple)
If training materials don’t exist prior to the workshop, we
help participants with the instructional design process.
Presentation & Facilitation Training for Trainers includes
pre-work, 12-months access to eCoach as well as reusable job
aids and reference materials for applying what’s learned in
class to situations learners face outside of it.
Tailoring:
As part of the tailoring process, Turpin works with clients
to understand the specific needs of each group of
individuals and modifies the workshop accordingly.
